🌟 Project Update! 🌟
I posted this as a social post recently and there was so much interest, I thought I'd send it to you too!
I've been working for the University of Cambridge again - this time on a new civic listening project.
Focusing on engaging with community groups around the city, I've had the pleasure of meeting fantastic people and hearing a wonderful range of opinions. I've also been surprised as much I've learned about my home city!
I'm proud to be a part of this project, and to be entrusted with this work.
The world is facing complex problems of many kinds, and as a result we require sustainable solutions. Communities often hold the key to problem-solving, and many universities are now reshaping their practices to bring communities closer to their innovative work.
University of Cambridge has massive potential to collaborate with local residents in a strategic way, so both the University and local people benefit.
My work is a small but important part of the journey towards this goal. And it is a journey - universities historically are not always immersed in their communities. It will take time to progress.

I've learned a lot from the heritage sector - museums are upping their game in regards to engaging closely with the public - universities are learning to do the same. Be that through listening to opinions, carrying out co-creation or other methods.
If you know a research centre or university that needs support engaging with the public in a way that also builds positive relationships, and which includes a diversity of voices, share this newsletter with them!
